What's wrong with people writin' in about their childhood experiences? It's
not like the same people are writing over and over, and if I'm not mistaken,
sombody through the question out there about discipline. The Andy Griffith
Show brings back memories for all of us, if we're lucky. That's why the show
and it's characters are near and dear to our hearts. That's what this
"community" is about, I thought. Personally, I wouldn't mind devotin' a week
to hearin' about two old ladies feet falling asleep. It's all Mayberry.

When my husband was a little one and misbehaved, his mom used the "HOO-RAH"
bush to "teach him to be nice"....seems he would have to go out back to pick
the right little branch...of course he would bring in a tiny one! ...and then
if it was used across his legs...he would be heard saying (or crying, that
is) "HOOOO RAHHHH!!!"
....and he turned out JUST FINE!

The initial deadline for reservations on the Mayberry Cruise has been
extended to November 11th, so you have a little more time to make your
reservation. A number of WBMUTBB members have already put down their
deposit, so it should be a good Mayberry time on the high seas. The
cruise is open to everyone, so spread the word!

Details and contact information for questions are available online at:

A lady I attend Church with asked me to think about joining the choir for the
Christmas musical. I guess she sits far enough away from me so as to not hear
me sing. I checked my larnyx and I've got a uvula so I'm going to give it a
try. Just in case, someone might want to find that "special" microphone Barney
uses.

I kinda liked hearing about the switchings, spankings and/or whip/whupins. I
think a little personal info is ok - just as long as we don't go overboard and
make a big moulage out of it.

I need the words to the song Andy sings, I think it is called "Flop Eared
Mule." Its the song about your mouth being like a fireplace with all the ashes
out.

Thanks

I've been working on cleaning up our roles so I'd know about how many
actually folks we have in our little corner of Mayberry here on the
Internet.

We currently have about 1443 folks signed up to get the WBMUTBB Digest
each day and I'd like to make sure that we have you all listed correctly
in the member list. Below is a link to the member list and I'd love for
you to go there and make sure your information is correct.

http://tagsrwc.com/cgi-bin/wbmutbb/memberlist.pl?members.txt

When you get there, just search for your own name and see if things look
correct. If something isn't right, let me know...otherwise you're good
to go.

ANNIVERSARY

This November 25th marks the 14th year of the Who's Been Messin' Up the
Bulletin Board? Chapter of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club!

14 years ago on the 25th of November we received "official verification"
from TAGSRWC HQ that WBMUTBB? was an official chapter of TAGSRWC. The
amazing thing is that some of the folks still with us here on the Digest
have been here the entire 14 years (or a year or so longer) and others
very close to that length of time.

I'm going to try and talk more about the Anniversary as it gets closer
and I would LOVE to hear from other folks nearer the anniversary date
about what this wonderful group of online friends has meant to us and
why we still enjoy reading about the goin's on in Mayberry. We need to
celebrate the last 14 years and look forward to next years 15th
anniversary!!!

Mayberry Ph.D.

By JAMIE SCHUMAN

At the Southern Historical Collection at the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill, researchers have long browsed manuscripts about the Civil War and
Reconstruction. Now they can check out a Martin D-18 guitar signed by the
television star Andy Griffith.

In September, Mr. Griffith gave the university many collectibles, including
personal and professional letters and annotated scripts of his television
shows, The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock.

An actor and singer, Mr. Griffith is best known as Sheriff Andy Taylor, father
of Opie, on his eponymous television series. With its folksy depiction of the
South, the sitcom still has a strong fan base, says Richard M. Kelly, a
professor emeritus of English at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and
author of a book on the show.

Mr. Griffith has many ties to the Tar Heel State: He grew up there, got a
bachelor's degree in music from Chapel Hill in 1949, and set his show in the
fictional Mayberry, N.C. Some of Mr. Griffith's letters touch on the culture
shock he experienced when he moved from his semirural birthplace, Mount Airy,
to start college, says Tim West, director of the Southern Historical
Collection.

While the collection has lots of weighty material on Southern politics, Mr.
Griffith's pop-culture additions won't be out of place. The library has had the
papers of Frances Bavier, Aunt Bee on The Andy Griffith Show, for 14 years.
