That is so neat!! What a great idea!!
I had something happen to me this morning, I hope you all will indulge me in
my storytelling.....
I live in an apartment building and occasionally a bird will get into the
wall. Somehow they end up in my bathroom ceiling space....anyhow this
happened last night, I could hear the bird and opened the crawl space hoping
it would fly out, even though Barney says a bird in the house means death in
the family, I can't stand the thought of the bird dying in there, etc.
Well finally the poor thing flew through the door in the ceiling and into my
apartment. He was circling my livingroom and I was opening the door to let
him out. He flew out and we were both relieved, I'm sure. A little while
later, I was leaving for work, and stepped outside my door to lock it, and
the trees were teeming with bird "talk," And I could just imagine that bird
telling all of his pals about his night in the dark cave and how he followed
the light and got out. I wish Winken could tell Blinken and Blinken could
tell Nod and Nod could tell Barney so he could tell us what the story was
from the scared little bird. :-) Reckon I'll be his hero and now he'll have
to save me from something???? LOL. Just a little story from
Lexington....have a great Mayberry kind of day!!

Hidee!
Our local baseball team is a farm team for the Yankees called the Columbus
Clippers. Last night on our local news was a story about a Clippers player
who's a huge TAGS fan. His name is Andy, and he was of course named for Andy
Griffith. He talked about his love for TAGS, and the reporter even quizzed him
with Miss Crump's quiz! (It looked like she'd gone to the TAGS website and
printed out one of Miss Crump's quizzes.) A wonderful story!
It was BIG!!

Hey David
I've got six of them collected of the National issues of TV guide.
There are also a lot of nice regional ones that came out as well. Those
tend to go for lots more $$ as they are more rare. Here's a picture of
my six guides from my office wall

I keep looking on Ebay but haven't seen another national one. Maybe Paul
knows? In my picture, the Guide on the upper left was the very first
TAGS collectible I ever purchased. Got it from a comic book store in
Royal Oak, MI in about 1994 or 5 - then came Ebay and my collection
expanded like Cousin Ollie's "bay window"

Re: Can anyone tell me how many TV guides were done with members of
TAGS on the front cover?
That's a fine collection you're building there. Here's a link to view
them:
http://www.timvp.com/andy.html
There were a total of eight TV Guide covers for The Andy Griffith Show
that were published between January 28, 1961 and July 13, 1968. Andy
had 2 additional covers for Matlock, Don Knotts had one more in 1970,
and Jim Nabors had 4 covers for Gomer Pyle, USMC between 1965 and 1969.
The TV Guide issues for The Andy Griffith Show included: January 28,
1961 (Andy and Ron Howard), May 12, 1962 (Don Knotts), May 11, 1963
(Andy, Don Knotts, and Ron Howard), March 21, 1964 (Andy, Don Knotts,
and Jim Nabors), April 24, 1965 (Andy Griffith), June 4, 1966 (Andy
Griffith with guitar), May 20, 1967 (Andy with Anita Corsaut), and the
last TV Guide was an illustration depicting Andy on the shoulders of
Don Knotts and Jim Nabors for the July 13, 1968 issue.
In one episode of The Andy Griffith Show, one of their own TV Guide
covers even made it on the show! On January 19, 1961, in episode #24
called "The New Doctor," filming began at the Desilu's Cahuenga
studios. During production, a then-current copy of TV Guide (Jan
28-Feb 3, 1961 featuring Andy and Opie on the cover), can clearly be
seen in the magazine rack at Walkers drugstore as Barney reaches up to
repair Ellie Walkers' doorbell.
Like most TAGS episodes, there was considerable delay between filming
and actual airing. While shooting wrapped on the set of "The New
Doctors" episode on January 25th - it didn't air until March 27, 1961 -
more than 8 weeks after filming was completed!
