Here is a heads up that I will be the subject of "The Tennessee Traveler"
segment on East TN television this Monday, Feb. 25 around 6:25 pm on channel 8
WVLT (Comcast channel 5). Alan Williams, the host of "The Tennessee Traveler"
and a TAGS fan himself, saw the Feb. 6 article about me in the Knoxville
News-Sentinel newspaper and asked to interview me about my Mayberry collection
and being the world TAGS trivia champion. So he and a cameraman came to my
house this past Tuesday afternoon to tape the segment. The segment will only be
about 5 minutes, but I was flattered that he would want to interview me anyway.
I also mentioned that my family went to California in May 2006 to see the
Mayberry sites, including Myers Lake and the 40 acres lot. I happened to
mention that I got video of my son, daughter and me walking down the original
trail at the opening of each TAGS episode where Opie throws the rock in the
water. Alan was especially interested in that and wanted a copy of the video to
possibly open the segment with. So you may get to see us walk the hallowed
ground.
They also got a lot of film of my Mayberry memorabilia. If you miss it, Alan
said it will also be posted on the Internet for all to see. Once I get the
link, I'll be sure to pass it along. Of course, the interview wasn't hard since
I am an expert at smiling and nodding....
