I have wondered over the years at the annual Mayberry Days what
Colonel Tim's Talent Time had to do with TAGS....I'm sure there's
been postings on here, but I've not paid proper attention to the
Digest.
Anyhow, when I got back from a medical call, a color episode of TAGS
was on (I've not watched very many color episodes). Anyhow, it was a
show with Colonel Tim. I thought......wow, that sure looks a whole
lot like Dick Haynes. Reading the credits, it sure enough was Dick
Haynes (spelling? Haines??). He was the 6 - 9 am DJ on KLAC Radio,
AM 570 (Haynes at the Reigns), in Los Angeles back in the 70's. He
had several characters that he did on the show including Gumdrop Gus
and Phil A. (This is Phil) Mignon.
Gumdrop Gus was also featured on Hee Haw a number of times. I saw
Dick in a movie on TV one time back in the 70's or 80's, but I don't
recall the name of it. Seems like it had something to do with
basketball.
Anyhow, some of noticers are slowly getting trained.
