I'm sure I won't be the only one to post this but today in the Winston-Salem
Journal there was a small column about the Surry Arts Council.
The Council Board of Directors voted unanimously yesterday to begin
charging $3 admission to view a collection of Andy Griffith movie posters and
memorabilia.
The arts council move the collection to the Andy Griffith Playhouse in
October after a deal collapsed to put it in a new building. Admission had
been free.
The collection is thought to be the largest of its kind and a draw for
the thousands of tourists who come here in search of Mayberry. Griffith's
childhood friend, Emmett Forrest, collected the items.
The arts council will use the money from admission to hire staff to make
collection available on weekends. The new hours are Monday through Friday 9
a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Be great if it was some numerical amount linked to the show maybe someone
could come with a numerical # close to 3 dollars that would be fitting for the
show.
Anyone have any ideas?
I'm sure they might be up for it.
Thanks
Jed
