I was cleaning up recently and came across a box of old video tapes. I decided to check and see which ones would be worth saving, and was very happy I did. After checking several out, I came across my tape of the Andy Griffith Show Reunion that CBS aired back in November of 2003. This was the one hour special that featured Andy, Don Knotts, Ron Howard and Jim Nabors. I had forgotten how good this special was!
It was delightful to see Andy and Ron together at the fishing hole remembering their time together on the show, and I loved the fact that the producers went to great lengths to recreate the jailhouse set for the segments where Andy and Ron were joined by Don and Jim. All and all, it was a wonderful hour of quality television! And I had forgotten that Channel 2, our local CBS affiliate (which also airs reruns of The Andy Griffith Show weekdays at 5:30 PM and Sunday nights at 11:30 PM) did a special remote from Andy's childhood home in Mt. Airy with his friend, Emmett Forest, midway through the special. They were advertising a special interview that was going to air during their 11:00 PM news broadcast that night with Forest about the special. I didn't tape that though, and for the life of me now, I can't remember why. Anyway, thought I would share this happy find with everyone here.
