Well, YOU can pay 6-7/8, I'd rather pay nothing....which is what we Mayberry
Days attendees have been paying all these years. But, if we HAD to pay to "take
a gander at Andy Griffith collectibles" I'd rather pay a dime (What Emma paid
for her pills). I wouldn't even mind paying another dime ("For my boy's ice
cream"), but the cost could be 30 cents a ding (for gas), or 29 cents for
picnics (that's pork to most folks), 50 cents for haircuts, 25 cents for Witch
Hazel, or $2.00 for a bookie receipt ("Now give me one of those little pieces
of paper."), or $2.00 for "Two chairs, no waiting.", or $2.00 (What Ellie paid
to keep Old Ben Weaver out of jail), or any other of the many fines that were
assessed by Andy. We could be charged $780 (mortgage on the Scobey's house), or
$3.00 for what Rafe Hollister paid for that thing that no one knew what it was
at the rummage sale (if they knew, it would cost you $5.00), or 5 (Barney's
watch engraving), or $1 plus $2 for cell number 1 and cell number 2, or $1 for
the squad (patrol) car's number in the Mayberry Sheriff's fleet, or if we felt
REALLY generous, the Surry Arts Council could charge us $35 for going $40, $40
for going $45, $45 for going $50......get the idea???????? or $50 that Opie
found. Or, here's a thought - $250,000 from the quarter million in the suitcase
episode, OR, and hold on to your hats folks, we could all be charged $100
(genuine Civil War bond) plus 8.5% interest, compounded annually for the last
100 years, in the amount of $349,119.27, to be paid in cash. I doubt the Surry
Arts Council will turn that down! But I'll tell you one thing..... whatever
they charge I promise to not tell, cause I wouldn't want to be struck down by
the curse of the claw.Harriet, ready to pay in chickens
......"Johnny Paul Jason says chewing tar is good for your teeth"..."That's an
old wives tale"...."Johnny Paul ain't married"........
