As a trained noticer (well, I don't notice EVERYTHING....) I wonder about the hat that Dave Browne wore in Opie's Hobo Friend episode. It the spitting image of the hat Buddy Ebsen wore on Beverly Hillbillies. It's not as worn and tattered but of course it was before his Jed Clampett role. The downturn in the front and the shape of the hat itself is so similar I would bet all of my thieving chickens that it is the same hat. Like the oval window that moves from set to set, it probably saved the prop department $2.00.
