I don't know if this has been mentioned before. Although I didn't know that Earle Hagen wrote "Harlem Nocturne", I was familiar with it from the Mike Hammer TV show. I remember one time I was watching the TAGS episode where Gomer joins the United States Marine "Corps" and Andy was in a cafe trying to convince Sergeant Carter that Gomer was Gen. Lucius Pyle's son. In the background "Harlem Nocturne" is playing. I remember thinking, "Hey, that's that song from "Mike Hammer". Now I see the connection. I guess it was included since Earle Hagen was involved with "Gomer Pyle, USMC" as the writer of the theme song.
