I always imagine that the space between Floyd's and the courthouse could have a false front on the street side with a narrow alley only accessible from the back. As for Ange's house, when you go up the stairs and get to the top, you're facing the street and then the second story could be entirely to your left with perhaps a linen closet occupying the end to your right. Remember in the first episode (I think), when Opie is looking out of his bedroom window, he can easily see the back driveway or side driveway where previously Andy is washing the truck and Barney comes with his infamous speech about being properly being chosen to be his deputy. I would recommend that those interested could contact the lovely folks at www.taylorhomeinn.com, who have built a replica of Andy's homeplace and it is now a B&B right down to many tiny and fascinating details.
