Regarding the definition of "the pip". Several years ago, mailing list
members could submit a question to Harvey Bullock and he'd answer it (via
Allan as a go-between). I asked that very question ("What is the pip?").
Mr. Bullock kindly answered and basically said that the pip was a term that
came from either his mother or wife (I can't remember which). It meant a
general malaise, feeling poorly.
