Some of my favorite serious lines are: 1st episode when Aunt Bee is leaving and talks about how she wished she could do all the things Opie likes, while her and Andy are looking in at him "sleeping". When after Andy sends Opie and Aunt Bee away while he waits for Luke Comstock, the tension is very apparent. When Barney defends Andy at the hearing, and speaks eloquently about how much he's done for Mayberry. When Goober went on the date with the lady Professor and said he realizes he wasn't exactly who she expected. Then later she said sometimes it's important to meet someone who has a good heart. There are so many of these and they're expertly placed so that before things become too tense or dramatic, something humorous is done or spoken to help us all remember how shaded life really is.
