Picking a favorite season is like picking a favorite child. How can you do that? They're each special and unique in their own ways. But I lean to Season 3. We still have Floyd at his best in Gay Deceiver and Convicts At Large, then unfortunately, Howard McNear leaves the show due to illness, but on the upside, we gain Gomer, as Jim Nabors joins as a regular and we get Bank Job and Man in a Hurry which are among the best episodes. Season 3 also introduces the Darlings and Malcom Merriweather. And we have some special time with Mayor Stoner and the lovely Peggy McMillan. We also meet Helen Crump (Andy's mother figure! :))-- Its also worth noting season 3 is directed by Bob Sweeney, who directed all of Season 2 and 3 and a good chunk of the latter part of Season 1. No disrespect to any other director, but I think Bob was the best. Like many of you, Season 4 is also tremendous, heck, they're all good, but take me to task, my pick is Season 3. Besides, Season 3 has Dogs, Dogs, Dogs. How could you not pick the one with the little trembly one?
