We are all familiar with how Opie opened a big can of worms when he wrote
about the true story of the infamous Battle of Mayberry. I am reading a
mystery entitled A Puree of Poison and the premise of the book is exactly
what Opie did. The town of Hemlock Falls is getting ready to celebrate the
133rd anniversary of their famous Civil War victory in the Battle of Hemlock
Falls. They are having a rededication to the statue of the famous war hero.
However someone researched the battle and found that it was a fake and the
town of Hemlock Falls actually lost the battle and the war hero actually was
killed when someone kicked him in the backside. I can't help but wonder if
the author came up with this idea of a story line from watching TAGS. It is
quite a coincidence.
