Someone mentioned a while back that there was a cardboard squad car used in one episode. I have never spotted that. Could someone enlighten me as to which episode that was in so I can look for it.
Where I grew up none of the small town police officers had a squad car. They did just the opposite of what they did in Mayberry. They owned their own cars and used them as police cars by putting a small portable red light on the roof when they were using it for official police work instead of using a police car for their personal use. Went to the musical My Fair Lady last night. If you remember the premise of the show the main character was trying to teach Miss Doolittle how to speak correctly and was then going to pass her off as a lady at the Queen's Ball. First thing he tried to teach her was, "How do you do?" I laughed so loud and turned to my wife and said, "He forgot the Mrs. Wiley part." It sure was similar to the episode with Ernest T. going to Mrs. Wiley's party. Maybe that is where they came up with the story line.
