We don't know for sure if the Mayberry Gazette is a weekly paper, but it's definitely not a daily. We learn this in "Opie's Fortune" when Barney reads the lost-and-found ad (on a Wednesday). He laments the fact that he didn't get the news one day earlier, saying "that's why this town ought to have a daily paper." Perhaps the Gazette comes out once, twice, or three times a week. The are other episodes which feature a "Sunday paper" (such as Man in a Hurry and Sermon for Today) but that may be an out-of-town paper.
