I believe the hot guitar licks that James Best was "playing" were supplied by
jazz great and studio musician Herb Ellis. If memory serves, his name even
appears in the closing credts. Being something of a jazz guitar student, I have
seen many photos of Herb Ellis over the years and I even recognized his typical
right hand picking hand position from the closeup of James Best's guitar. I had
the pleasure of seeing Herb Eliis with the late jazz master Joe Pass together
in 1973, Berkeley, CA
