I have a college education and I taught school for over 36 years before retiring. Much of what I have learned in life came from books. Much came from the school of hard knocks, and yet a lot of the more important and useful things I have learned came from listening to the wisdom of the wonderful people of Mayberry. Just what have I learned from all those fine folks? Well, here are a few of the more important lessons in life I learned.

.. Never hit your mother in law in the mouth with a leg of lamb.
.. It isn't only the materialistic things in life that make you rich- there is love and friendship - they can make you rich.
.. Everybody talks about the weather but nobody does anything about it.
.. If you want a good suit you have to go to Mt. Pilot.
.. The petulla abondola ain't in the leg - it's in the brain.
.. Making baskets in prison will cure kleptermineracs.
.. Air and water is free but there is a charge for gas and oil.
.. People who wash their hands all the time have a hand washing compellsion.
.. Chewing tar is good for the teeth.
.. If you put your tongue on the roof of your mouth while riding a motercicle facing the wind it is impossible to say a word that begins with the letter s.

That being said, there is one thing that I have not discovered in all the 48 years that I have watching TAGS. And that is: "Why can't you have peanut butter in prison?"
