Folks, I am very sorry that this moulage got started. What was said by both Ken and myself were blown very much out of proportion. I never EVER intended to hurt anyone. I said, and still mean it, that Tom's reminiscences are interesting to read and if he did ever write a book (and I fully understand that he won't and doesn't want to and that's certainly all right), I would be one of the first to buy a copy to read. I do think that Tom has so many wonderful stories that we enjoy having him share. For him to write them takes a toll on him because he is in failing health, and I am very appreciative of his hard work in writing them. I SINCERELY HOPE HE DOES NOT STOP WRITING TO THIS DIGEST BECAUSE OF THIS MISUNDERSTANDING.
That said, I do still stand behind what I believe, which is that Ken was making Mayberry references about "going wild with pastels" and changing his name to a more exotic one, like Helen Crump was told to do. He wasn't making serious suggestions, he was making Mayberry ones by referencing different episodes. I admit I didn't pick up on all of them at first (I'm a little slow like that sometimes), but that's what they all were. I truly do love Mayberry and the digest and ALL of the contributors to this wonderful venue. I don't want anyone to stop posting because of me; that would be such a sad thing to have happen. I seldom post, and obviously I should've posted even 'seldomer' if it meant someone's feelings were hurt. BUT, I won't stand by and have my name dragged through the mud, either, and that's what seems to be happening now. Many of you do not know about the emails that I and others have received that are too vicious to post here, and that's fine--they're nobody else's business but ours. I have been threatened with a lawsuit, called names, and cursed - all because I posted one message to this digest asking that person to please show a little more tolerance for others' posts. I don't believe that this is warranted at all, just from what I posted. We are all entitled to our opinions. I am truly sorry, however, that this has kept us away from Mayberry chit-chat. Unlike Lydia, that is chit-chat that I LOVE. :-) Please, can we call it a 'draw' and move on? --Marsha _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list [email protected] http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
