I'd say the largest crime Andy ever let go without actual charges was child abandonment.? He basically let the mother (and dad...Jack Nicholson) have the child back with just a stern warning, something that would never happen in this day and age.? Then again, child abandonment laws may have been a little more lax back then anyway and today, Mayberry's courthouse might even be considered a safe haven for such a thing, like a hospital or fire station.
