As an old broadcaster, it saddens me to see how the corporations that are running the radio stations these days are laying off people on a daily basis. Here in our market (Macon, GA) they're replacing long-time personalities with automation, syndication, etc. to save money. These corporate people could take a lesson from station YLRB in Mt. Pilot. They replaced the canary who sang on the Ethel Page organ recital with a real human being - Leonard Blush. And bird seed would have been a lot better on the bottom line than salary and benefits.
