As probably everyone knows by now, we had an ugly incident in Dallas recently with a police officer and a professional football player who was rushing to the hospital. A local talk show started calling the police officer involved, "Officer Fife". I took offense to that! In that situation, Officer Barney Fife would have rushed with the family into the hospital to check on their family member, after giving them a police escort to the scene. And even though he is given to writing tickets, I don't believe he would have in this case. Barney would have gone not so much by the book, as by the heart.
