Webster's dictionary defines "anachronism" as someone or something appearing in the wrong time of history. Ever notice how many anachronisms there are on Andy? Just off the top of my head, I can think of: 1. The Mayberry Telephone System. Everyone I knew had 7 digit phone numbers and dial telephones by the 60's here in Oklahoma. 2. Aunt Bea Listening To Soap Operas On The Radio. Andy began on 3 October 1960, and the last radio soap opera, (Ma Perkins) left the air on 25 November 1960. 3. Medicine Shows. Wikipedia says the last of the medicines shows expired in 1951. At any rate, they were long gone by 1963 when Colonel Harvey sold patent medicine to Aunt Bee.
