Steve, this reminded me of something else. In the last episode of season one, "Bringing Up Opie," Andy is scolding Opie for handcuffing a boy named Ralph Baker to the flagpole. Then in the second episode of season two, "Barney's Replacement," Bob Rogers says he's from the state attorney's office, and Andy says that would be Ralph Baker. It would be quite a coincidence for the writers to come up with this name out of thin air twice, so I wondered if this was a reference to a real-life Ralph Baker that Andy knew.
