I just got the June '09 issue of "Our State: Down Home in North Carolina" magazine. Now for a displaced Tar Heel like me, it's purt' near good as the National Geographic. Anyway one of the articles is titled, "In Search of Bear: Dismal Swamp State Park." According to the article, the park opened in Spring 2008. Here's yet another example of how the folks in Mayberry were way ahead of their time. Don Good (who wonders if tweezers are good for bear hunting too)
