Jon, You'll probably get lots of responses to this. Goober was first introduced as Gomer's cousin Goober Pyle. Then in the episode "TV or Not TV" Andy mistakenly introduces Goober to the would-be bank robbers as Goober Beasley. That was the only instance in the entire series where Goober's name wasn't Pyle.
