All this talk about fly killing brings back the memory of our having these
long ugly sticky spiral fly catchers that we would hand around our house.
They came in a little cardboard tube and you opened it and pulled this
yellow sticky strip down about two feet long. They really added to the decor
of the house when they got full of dead flies. Wonder if they used them in
Mayberry? They were quite popular back in the sixties. Not sure if it was
mentioned, but Opie also caught a fly in his hand while sitting in church
one morning. Andy also nailed one with a newspaper while the first barber,
Colby, was sleeping in the chair.
