I've been sitting here like Gomer with a bucket on my head thinking about Vic's questions about the mail slot and Sunday paper and I am wondering if maybe the mail slot was right handy for dropping off a fine after hours--particularly if old Barney has really been on his game and writing tickets left and right.
Now as for the Sunday paper....when the jail cells were occupied on Sunday morning, Barney or Andy probably had to make their way down to the courthouse to take breakfast and get the prisoners ready for a visit to All Soul's Church.? While waiting for the prisoners to eat and get ready, it was probably right nice to have the paper to look at.? Besides, Mrs. Mendlebright was never finished with the paper when Barney was ready to read! Just reckoning.....
