Oops, I reckon I wasn't clear on the matter. I wasn't referring to Barney yelling "Fred!" I was referring to the off-screen voice that replied to Barney, "Be down in a minute Barn." I put my wife to the test, and had her listen. Without hesitation, she replied, "That's Floyd." (Howard McNear)

I've noticed a few other voice-overs in other episodes as well. There was one in "A Medal for Opie" where someone dubbed in an "OK" for an off-screen Barney, that clearly wasn't Barney's voice.

Curt I happen to. Tape If I had A million Sunday s marathon along with 10 other
episodes.I got a bombshell I discovered upon your question was it Barney or
Floyd calling out Fred.It was Don Knotts.I just played it back 5 times but my
goodness leave it to the old professor from Col Tims TV show to explain why you
thought it was Floyd s voice.Attention Mayberryians take note of this episode
for the actors overdrama(izing and screeching out in great exaggeration
lines.Barney is screeching at top of his lungs Fred Fred Fred
