Tom, you've come up with another good topic..Bench sitting.
In the Recent past, someone started a string on-who all sat in Andy's Chair at the courthouse. Another good one would be..who sat in the Barber's chair at Floyd's..and this one..who sat on the bench/chair in front of the Courthouse/Floyd's Barbershop. (is it the same bench??) I think the bench changes from a bench to a chair or chairs at time. When it's a bench, Ole Ben Weaver tries to steal it..in a memorable scene. Another memorable scene is when some old loafers are sitting on the bench and Barney fires up the Motorcycle and leaves Andy on the Sidecar on blocks. As someone pointed out, Goober was a frequent bench sitter.. He once even perched on the bench (first episode when Andy called him Goober Beasley) Howard sat there a few times with Andy..and Floyd, of course,..who else (any females??) .. Got my noticing cap on Tom. One epilog, I believe at night, Andy and Barney pull the wooden chairs outside and sit in them also.
