They must have cracked down on the litter laws in Mayberry sometime between the
second season of TAGS and the fifth season. In the episode 'Barney's
Repacement' which aired in the second season Barney writes a ticket to
lawyer/deputy Bob Rogers as he's about to leave town, then tears it up and
drops it on the sidewalk in front of the courthouse.
In season five 'Barney's Uniform' Barney gives Fred Plummer a ticket for not
picking up his litter. I wonder if there was a crackdown on littering. But then
as I think about it Barney left his litter on the sidewalk If Fred would have
left his on the sidewalk instead of sweeping it into the street he might not
have gotten a ticket.
another area of littering is where they put out cigarettes. I was watching one
episode, it escapes what one but Andy dropped a cigarette on his porch floor
and stomped it out and in
'Barney Mends A Broken Heart' Al, Daphne's boyfriend squashes a cigarette out
on the restaurant floor. What is this ?
