It is amazing the places where one will find a "Mayberry Moment". I am
reading the book "Throw Wide the Door" by Emilie Loring. A character in the
book just had his home redecorated and according to the book, and I quote,
"The room had been furnished in the Sheraton and French Empire designs as
they had been adapted by Duncan Phyfe, with satinwood and mahogany." So
that is where old Duncan came from before all that begatting that eventually
begat Barney. I am off in about an hour to do a Mayberry presentation at
the Northwest Wisconsin Teacher's Convention. I am doing another one on
Monday at a church luncheon so Mayberry is alive and well here in Eau
Claire. I also just received my wonderful Barney Fife thermometer from
Weaver's Department Store and the only word I can think of to describe it is
Big. It is much too nice to hang outside but I am going to do it so I can
check with Barney each morning to see how hot or cold it is.
