for a change a different line up than Sunday. All in color.Emmetts Brother In
Law with Dub Taylor ,Funny with Emmett in the closing scene saying "thats a
fine piece of toast" . Opies Drugstore Job..we all recall the debate over
the colored water. Now this brings me to a very interesting observation im
sure some of you Mayberry fans may have noticed. In this 1967-68 season did
Mayberry have two drugstores?Doesnt make sense in a town this small. but we
had Mr Crawford in this one and an episode later we have Elmo (My good
friend Vince Barnett) in Church Benefactors. thats very strange two rival
drugstores where Elmo in 67 was already an established druggist. now Mr
Crawford had a Drugstore. any comments? And in Church Benefactors we have
Mayberrys most famous druggist (sorry Ellie fans with a few good one
liners. he wants a pool table of all things for that $500.00 remberance and
as Emmett said "the winner buys the beer" "Emmett" retorts Martha. Note
please the last scene, often cut out by Tvland , of the camera zooming in to
the very last second Aunt Bee, in the choir. Frances the great actress was
well aware by her eyes in this scene, to milk that final scene before the
fadeout. This in show buisness is BRIILLIANTLY executed. Thanks Frances. But
Emmett has the closing line "Just a matter of being patient." Even Elmo has
a doubletake on something he would had said..Goober Goes to An Auto Show- NO
COMMENT, Aunt Bee's Big Moment, Frances Bavier is beautiful in this classic
show & her facial expressions in the plane when at the wheel is worth the
time to tune in. Thanks Frances.Helens Past ,good Anita showcase but look at
Mrs Pendeman Ruth McDevitt, what a wonderful character actress, a nosy buddy
but oh so funny and eccentric. i saw her on Merv Gruffin in 1968 talking
about a stage show with Bela Lugosi in 47 and she brought the house down.
This woman could had been true successor to Aunt Bee after she left Mayberry
RFD. FINALLY the best for last. BARNEY HOLDS A SUMMITT MEETING. Superb
writing, acting, staging, Andy Griffith in fine style (whenever Don Knotts
is back) like the old days. Look folks at his enthusiasm over this classic
episode.his voice here only is like the b&w episodes of TAGS. He's having
the time of his life here. no one can deny it. And the actor playing the
Russian, Frances told me as you recall what a darling man he was on the set
cracking jokes opposite his stern role. And Don Knotts in his final TAGS
appearence is at his best , in the most unimaginable but upraoarious scripts
the writers of TAGS got him in . Now what i mean by that folks since we all
have our favorite Don Knotts episode is the senario being the
American-Russian summit , This is world history coming to Mayberry. "
Barney you dropout" shouts Paul Fix. this one episode easily has Barney&Andy
in the most outlandish plot ever devised and with US-Russian delegates in
Mayberry it cant ever get better than that,. Barney takes on the Russians.
Now thats brilliant acting. Even Mr Schwamp pops in, look at his startled
look as he's being pushed on out in the Taylor home with others. Even Opie
hints at having to go to the bathroom , rare in 1968. This show is a Topper,
Stupendous regardless of all episodes ,this plotline is executed to fullest
potential. Thanks Allan snd everyone. Tonight was a good night for the color
episodes. What a way to remember Andy&Barney with Barney Holds a Summit
Meeting. .Im on Cloud 9 Tonight. Bless you all. Tom Kessel Col.Tims Protege
