I was at the American Roots concert in Nashville last night (broadcast live on
WSM 650AM and http://www.wsmonline.com on Wednesday nights at 7pm CT). In
between songs, Sam Bush was keeping things going while the band tuned their
instruments and he breaks into "The Andy Griffith Theme" on his mandolin. Of
course the crowd loved it and then he said "When in doubt, play the theme from
The Andy Griffith Show."
What was better was when his banjo player Scott Vestal added some of "Doug's
Tune" in the middle of a "Cripple Creek" jam with the song that The Band did
and the traditional song "Goin' Up Cripple Creek" that Andy sings in an
episode).
Got time to breathe, got time for music.
