Well a fine lineup tonight Allan and Mayberry fans in color.Only A Rose a
gem a grand Frances Bavier showcase, Claire's humility and Floyd funny as
always at the contest.. New Doctor in Town is a good one with apprehension
over Opie 's upcoming operation/ Classic Floyd lines knocking the new
Doctor. Otis the Deputy. Hal Smith is brilliant in this gem. notice the
Drinking' melody the music used as background in every drunken Otis scene
unlike other episodes. Howard&Andy at the mercy of all people ,Otis to come
to the rescue. Otis looking at that bottle in Andys desk drawer is in itself
so comical and played out so well. Otis never looked boozier than in this,
just getting off the ground. Thanks Hal. Dinner at Eight is brilliant on
all counts. Andy is ready to kill the old Goob over the merry mixup.thats
character actor Emory Parnell (Life of Riley's Hawkins) in one of his last
roles as Helens Uncle. Goober Makes History, oh that beard has the oLD Goob
in most offbeat role, the "brainy' one who talks down to his inferiors and
look at Floyd taken in by the awe of it all, as he marvels AT Goobers
transfomation.Goober was never ever more a pest than here. Finally Never
Miss Good Bet. And get out your dvd players. Thats Mr Schwamps older
brother getting out of the booth in the diner walking out as Andy comes in
to talk to that charlaton. And for me unlike the rest of you, its a welcome
joy to see Dick Ryan in his last acting chore ever thanks to Andy Griffith
as Mr. Wilson Mayberrys stationmaster uttering his last line on screen, "Are
you sure you dont want a round trip ticket.?" A grand actor i knew at the
end of his life. thanks Dick and thanks Andy Griffith. All in all a good
night in coor. Finally a correction, it wasnt Jenny from Lassie who wasnt
ever seen. she was seen 4 or 5 times .Sister to Arthur Lake, Florence Lake .
i was thinking of Sarah the switchboard operator who managed the phones
nearby Mayberry in Hooterville in Petticoat Junction. ive counted 7 tv
series with unknown phone operators .Thankyou Alan and Mayberry readers to
allow me to share a few moments of my encounter with the Mayberry downhome
folks. ok Col. Tim its time to go back to the studio til another marathon.
Bless you all. Tom Kessel Col Tims Protege Reject
