Whoa! Now there's an idea, Michael! Burnett is such a gifted comedienne and was always great with physical comedy. I can see that being a possibility. I had only been considering women already on the show, but your response got me thinking... We've discussed on various occasions that it was very difficult to replace Barney when Don Knotts left the show, which was probably one reason that Jack Burns didn't last very long as Warren. He just couldn't be another Barney (through no fault of his own). But what if a woman had been brought in as a replacement? It would have been highly unusual for that time period, but the gender difference may have spawned more storyline possibilities and would have allowed for less comparisons with Barney.
