Being that my favorite Otis portrayal was in "Aunt Bee the Warden" when he cradles that flower vase and sings/slurs that little ditty about 'That's the way the Dipsey Doodle works!", I got curious about the songs' origins, if any.So after searching it I discovered the Dipsey Doodle lyrics on Rhapsody.com, finding out that it was a swing era big band tune from the Tommy Dorsey songbook.A fun little tune! The TAGS writers must have liked the sound of it as Dipsey Doodle also shows up on " The Haunted House" as the name of the pitching technique of Opies' ball playing friend. Another mystery solved!
