Now this is a really odd TAGS connection.....I checked out a Civil War video
from our library.......It was produced by the Discovery Channel and was a
documentary on the Battle of Antietam.  Through most of the video you can hear
the song "Maryland, My Maryland".  The documentary explains that this was the
song that the confederates sang as they marched into battle at Antietam.  My
husband and I visited Antietam and Harper's Ferry last summer and it was a
fabulous trip.  Well, Maryland, My Maryland is the tune that Floyd uses when he
composes and sings, " Mayberry, Miss Mayberry" at the pageant.  See the
similarity in the words?   It's also the tune used for "O Tannenbaum" written
in 1799.  If you go to this link, you can listen to "Maryland, My Maryland"
written by Stephen Foster.  click on the word "midi" underneath the song title
and credits.   http://www.stephen-foster-songs.de/amsong33.htm
