I seem to remember the drug store being open at least one Sunday. Showing my
age, I can't remember the episode but weren't Andy and Barn leaving church one
Sunday when Barney mentioned he was headed to Thelma Lou's but she wanted him
to stop at the drug store first for some ice cream. I'll have to check my
DVD's, that may be a scene that gets cut out during editing for re-airing.
It reminds me though of stoping to get ice cream on the way to my grandparent's
on Sunday after church. It came in the old rectangular waxy cardboard cartons.
My grandmother would make cobbler and she would just slice the ice cream
through the carton, pull off the carton and have a nice rectangular slice of
ice cream to put the cobbler on. Of course, in the summer time there was
always homemade peach ice cream made with peaches from their own trees. Great
memories.
