Steve, at one of a couple of events I have been able to attend, Mitch
Jayne spoke about this.  He is the bass-playing pipe-smoking Darlng boy.
It was he that uttered "bout to pop" and he claimed that this was the
only words spoken by any of the Darling boys.  As I'm sure you've heard
the story, they were not part of the actors union, but were paid as
musician/background actors, so they were not given lines.

Your spotting one of them saying "night" may bust Mitch's claim to a
small degree.
