Sometimes when I am just sitting around tending to the chickens, I get to
thinking. Has anyone besides me ever wondered what Aunt Bea was doing before
she came to live with Andy and Opie? Was she living with Ollie and Nora and
helping care for the two boys? Was she living with some other kinfolk? When I
was growing up it was common for maiden sisters to continue to live with their
parents or brothers or sisters and help with the housework and gardening.
Remember the Andy Hardy series, Aunt Millie living with the Hardy family while
she taught school? Just thinking.
