Today is Primary day here in Indiana.

Whenever an election day comes, I conjure up images of the memorable
Mayberry Elections. Barney vs. Andy, Howard Vs Aunt Bee, and Sam Jones
Vs Emmett.

In this election, we are voting for a new Sheriff, and the incumbent is
backing a current Deputy. It reminds me of Andy in Return to Mayberry,
supporting Barney until things change and Andy runs.

I was hurrying down the steps of my polling place and slipped past a few
steps, catching myself before taking a seat. A few campaigners out
front asked me if I was OK. I'm just glad Barney was not there telling
me that I had to fill out an accident form and get it notarized. Hold
on to your card there Neal Bentley ..I'm not suing the county for
negligence, when I slipped on my own feet on perfect paved steps.

To me, a couple of pressing questions about Mayberry elections are:

Why wasn't the Courthouse ever used for a polling place?? I guess City
Hall or wherever they had those meeting must have been the place?

Why was Howard at Andy's House on election night. As County Clerk,
wouldn't he be one of the voting officials?

It makes you think, just like a bucket on the head.
