This posting about the American Flag in Mayberry got me to thinking about one of the big mistakes the producers of Andy made. Supposedly, the post office was across the street from the courthouse. One episode Barney gave Melissa Stevens a police escort to the post office, and then in the episode Citizen's Arrest, Gomer was seen coming out of the post office. However, at no time, did I ever see our American Flag flying over the post office. There is federal law, and the post master can get into a lot of trouble for not flying the American Flag. Strange, considering the last thing Barney and Andy ever did was to lower the American Flag.

I just hope she doesn't get that free American Flag any time soon now. > From: PLV <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Subject: The American Flag in Mayberry > Message-ID: <[email protected]> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii > > Was the American flag ever seen displayed in any manner in Mayberry?
