I think I have an explanation for that. Maybe Boysinger's bakery didn't sell donuts, just cakes and cream buns, etc. Also if no other businesses sold donuts, that meant Mayberry residents had to make their own. Maybe Aunt Bee's donuts were along the lines of her pickles and marmalade? BTW, since reading the digest the past couple of days I've eaten lots of watermelon (FYI -without salt).
