While at a dentist and doctor appointment this week I couldn't help
hear the constant radio noises in the back ground. It made me think about
how common radios are in these times and it made me think about how people
listened to radio in Mayberry. I sat down when I got home and wrote out a
list of all the times I can remember someone in Mayberry actually listening
to a radio. I did not include the police radios. Here is what I came up
with.
Aunt Bee listening to soap opera up in Opie's room.
Andy and Barney listening to Leonard Blush.
Barney, Opie, and Gomer listening to the news about crooks being caught.
Ron Bailey listening to radio in jail cell.
Goober listening to his transistor radio he bought from Newton.
Andy listened to Helen's radio in the Cave Rescue.
Andy and Mary listened to radio in Mary's car when they were parking.
Andy heard on the radio about Big Maude and girls escaping.
Gypsies listened to their weather short wave radio.
People listened to Governor's address about Battle of Mayberry.
Opie was listening to his radio while doing homework in episode about his
band group.
Fun girls turned on the radio at Andy's house so they could dance. ( I am
pretty sure this was the radio but not 100% sure)
Dan Caldwell was listening to radio in his cell.
Andy played transistor radio to make Barney think fish could talk.
Radio was on when Andy and Uncle Ollie were sitting in the living room and
heard about the prison break.
Andy and Barney listened to the radio while on the Parker porch.
Barney had the radio on in the courthouse when Andy came in after having his
fight with Peggy.
"Leonard Blush, Leonard Blush, is that all you can think about is Leonard
Blush?"
I probably have missed a few so if anyone can add to this list I would be
interested in seeing what you found. This all got me motivated to finally
find someone to repair my
radio in my '66 Chevy convertible. I have an appointment Wednesday to get
it repaired.
