The countdown to Mayberry Days continues, so I will introduce to our new
members
and remind the rest of us about the WBMUTBB Silent Auction. This is the annual
service project of our internet chapter to help raise funds to support the
Surry
Arts Council's efforts to host Mayberry Days. The Silent Auction is held on
Saturday of the festival from 10:00 a.m. to Noon in front of the Andy Griffith
Playhouse. Hopefully we'll have better weather and can set up outside around
the
marquee sign rather than be in the lobby this year.

For the past 10 years, talented and creative members of our chapter have
donated
Mayberry related things to the auction - handmade items, memorabilia,
autographed items, and special one-of-a-kind things that are not sold in
stores.
We have always gotten some great things and this year will be no exception. All
donated items are tax deductible as a donation to a non-profit organization and
all the proceeds go to the Surry Arts Council.

There are three ways to help - donating something(s) for the auction, donating
your time, and bidding on auction items. We've been fortunate to have a great
core group that has helped every year but it would be nice to have more
participation. It is only a couple hours and gives you a chance to visit with
people and help out others. Setting up starts after the parade and bidding ends
at Noon. The time between is pretty easy to just visit and help answer
questions.

If you have something to donate, have a question, or want more specific
information, please send me an email at [email protected]. I thank each of
you who have helped in the previous years and hope you will be able to help
again. Even more, I encourage others to get involved as well. This is a fun way
to help and spend time getting to know fellow Digest members in person. I will
plan to post a list of some of the donations this year as people let me know
what they have for this year.

Jeff
