In a particular episode,Helen Crump awards Ernest T with a diploma.During the
course of teaching Ernest T some
basic fundamentals,Helen writes a sentence on the black board.Roughly "The
'possum hides under a rock".
We all know Ms. Crump to be a no nonsense teacher. She wants her students to
obtain an education by teaching
them proper sentence structure,spelling,etc.
My question is:why would she write 'possum on the board as opposed to
opossum,which is the correct spelling?
It just seems to go against what she has instilled in her students.Maybe that
is one slang term that she is fond of.

Proverbial joke...why did the chicken cross the road.To get to the other
side?Nope.To prove to a ' possum that
it can be done.Yeah,Yeah,Yeah,I know,it's corny,but I do believe Ernest T would
find it amusing.
