I've often wondered that myself, whether PhG really meant something other than
"pharmacy gal". Like others have said, I have only heard of a PharmD degree
(doctor of pharmacy), though you don't really call someone with a PharmD degree
"doctor", just like you don't usually call lawyers "doctor" although they have
a J.D. degree (doctor of jurisprudence).

Having said that, I sure expect my students to call me "doctor" in class. Once
you've earned the highest academic degree (doctor of philosophy), I say you've
earned it!

While we're on this train of thought, how many people are seen or mentioned in
the show with doctorates? Not the M.D.s. There are bunches of those, but the
academic doctorates. Can anyone name them?

Dennis, Ph.D.
