Tom, I am with you about spooky episodes. I have often thought too that the writers of TAGS really missed out on some potential great episodes if they would have done some about Halloween in Mayberry. Suppose Andy would have heard a rumor that some kids in town were going to go out to the cemetery on Halloween night. So he decides to send Barney to keep watch at the cemetery. Being afraid as he is, Barney would deputize either Gomer, Goober, or Floyd to go along with him. I can just picture Barney and one of those other three sitting out in the cemetery after dark on Halloween. All kinds of scenarios could have been written into a storyline. Or somehow the writers could have gotten the Darlings involved in a Halloween episodes. With their superstitions and omens and such things all kinds of story lines could have been written. Or better yet, bring back the old Rimshaw House on Halloween and send Barney back into it on Halloween night. Instead of having a Harvest Ball or Founder's Day Celebration, Mayberry could have had a town Halloween costume party held at the Rimshaw House.

Also, reading about all those songs mentioned brings to mind that I think Otis Campbell's favorite song must have been "Still" by Bill Anderson.

"Me? You want me to go into that old haunted house?"
