Peggy,  Permit me if you will, but I would like to throw out a few possible
answers to your questions:

1.  Why was Barney getting his mail at the courthouse??  Barney lived at Mrs.
Mendlebright's Boarding House and we know, as much as he cared for her, he
still considered her a snoop.  She may have been steaming open his mail to see
what was inside.

2.  Why would Gomer have any suits at all???  Even though TAGS was set in the
60's, Andy Griffith often said Mayberry was patterned after a town in the
30's.  In the first half of the 20th century and even into the 60's all manner
of men often wore suits.  Gomer would have to have at least one for Sunday
preachin and if you look at the size lapels of his plain brown suit, it looks
as it came from the 30's or 40's.  Maybe it was his granddaddy's suit and he
left it to Gomer.

3.  If mail was delivered to the courthouse, why was Andy going to the post
office????  Andy had to go to the post office to buy stamps for he and Barney.
Remember, Barney wouldn't buy stamps from that machine so surely Andy would buy
them for him.  Also, in those days, there were always wanted posters posted in
the post office.  Maybe he was checking those to see if he could get any
information on fugitives in the area.

Sorry for all the question marks in my response.  I can't get the hang of
single spacing and I always make mistakes and go back and correct them if I can.
